Australia is experiencing its driest season and most grueling heatwave resulting to widespread bush fires. Fire maps are trending in social media sites thru shares and re-posts showing the direction and expanse of the bush fire. Emergency services are working non-stop to assess the situation and to figure out what can be done to prevent further damage to property and personal lives while veterinarians are also skipping on their sleep to treat injured animals.
This scenario happens very frequently in Australia but this season has been the most challenging yet.
We must learn to defend ourselves in situations like this. Preparedness is the key. One must always be aware and ready at all times.
LISTEN AND COMMUNICATE. Listen to your local government and reliable news sources. Disseminate factual news to neighbors, so as not to spread panic among the people.
Prepare Emergency Kits – bottled water, biscuits, masks, medicines (burn creams, inhalers, supplements, prescribed medications, etc.), warm clothing, flashlight, cell phones, chargers, power banks.
